MISSION STATEMENT

The business of the Collier County Probation Department is protecting the community by intervening in the lives of the offenders, holding them accounatable and serving as a catalyst for positive change. Believing in the inherent dignity of all human beings, we respect one another, our correctional clients, others whom we service and the public. We act in collaboration with the community and other justice partners. We provide services to the courts, give victims a voice in the justice system and help strengthen families.

What We Do (Probation Department Core Business Functions)

I. Insure probationers' timely compliance with court order by providing effective case management/supervision:

• Effectively monitoring, tracking and supervise probationers court ordered conditions; which includes but not limited to: (1) drug and alcohol testing; (2) enforce compliance with general and special conditions of probation.
• Submit timely violation of probation warrants to the Judiciary.
• Provide quality and timely information to the Judiciary in regards to probationer's case status.

• Conduct field contacts with probationers, family members, employers and victims.
• Assist the CCSO during DUI checkpoints.
• Assist the CCSO SET Team in the search and apprehension of those high risk probationers who have committed new violations.

• Assess risk factors.
• Conduct probationers case research by investigating their prior criminal record(NCIC, DAVID & Jessica Lunsford Act). This method helps Probation Officers to identify gang memvers and habitual offenders. It also helps Probation Officers to determine who can be recommended for early termination.
• Conduct daily case research in the CCSO database (WINGS) in order to identify those probationers who are arrested on a new law violation within 24 to 48 hours.

• Communicate with probationers during office visits on a weeklly, monthly or as instructed basis.
• Provide effective case supervision by holding probationers accountable to conditions (compliance) and encouraging positive behavior change.
• Conduct financial assessments and eduate probationer on financial responsibility (balance income and expenses).
• Motivate probationers to obtain employment or advance in current job.
